Teach in China TEFL Scholarship – 2020/2021:
We’ve teamed up with schools and training providers to arrange a TEFL scholarship and China placement.
As part of this scholarship you’ll get a FREE accredited TEFL course, help to prepare your resume, a job placement at a choice of cities in China, and guidance through the pre-departure process. After arriving in China you’ll be met at the airport and taken to your accommodation. You’ll be given orientation training, and additional classroom training before starting teaching live classes.

What’s included in the scholarship:
The scholarship covers most of the process involved with getting to China, but there are few things you’ll need to prepare.
Included:
☑ Accredited TEFL course: To start teaching English you’ll need to complete a high quality TEFL course. These can cost hundreds of dollars, but with this scholarship all teachers are given access to the Let’s TEFL 120-hour online TEFL course.
☑ TEFL certificate shipping and authentication: Your TEFL certificate will need to go through a process known as “authentication”. With this scholarship, the certificate will be sent directly to an authentication service for you, and then held before being delivered to your chosen school for use with your visa application.
☑ Job placement in China: You’ll get to choose a shortlist of schools to apply with from participating organizations around China.
☑ Health insurance: All scholarship recipients will receive inclusive health insurance upon arrival in China – ensuring access to quality medical care throughout your stay.
☑ Orientation and classroom training: After arriving in China you’ll be given additional orientation training to help you get settled, and induction training to help you familiarise yourself with your classes before starting teaching.
Not included:
☒ Degree + police check: You’ll need to arrange for your degree and police check to be authenticated (guidance included).
☒ Flights: You’ll need to pay for flights up front, but after arriving at the school will gain a refund up to a certain value.
Selection procedure:
Candidates will be selected for the scholarship based on a 3-part process.
- Qualification review: Initially, your application will be reviewed to see if you meet the current legal requirements to teach in China. If you aren’t legally able to teach in China then your application would not be able to proceed past this stage. If you meet all of the requirements but have not yet completed your degree then it may still be possible to process your application – depending on when you would receive the certificate (it’s needed for the visa application).
- Suitability review: Next, your cover letter and questionnaire answers would be reviewed. Ideal scholarship candidates would display the following traits: a passion for education and teaching, academic excellence, adaptability to new environments, an interest in foreign cultures, ability to complete a one-year minimum contract.
- Interview: Finally, applicants reaching this stage would be contacted to arrange a video interview. During this interview the candidates would be asked a range of questions, and be given time to explain their reasons for applying.
